Buyer (m/f/d)

based in St. Louis - Hazelwood MO, US

Your responsibilities

  • Owns the procurement process supporting the overall company objectives in the areas of cost, profitability, productivity, quality, and sustainability.
  • Research and interviews existing and prospective suppliers. Stays current on market trends. Identify suppliers that can meet the company's needs for materials, manufacturing or parts.
  • Obtains supplier offers and independently negotiates pricing and general terms.
  • Ensures purchases meet required technical specifications.
  • Analyzes and assesses cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepares and supports make-or-buy decisions.
  • Establishes and executes the company’s procurement methodology with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Issues purchase orders within SAP and forwards to suppliers as approved.
  • Proactively manages the status of pending orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Conducts supplier market research and stays current on market trends. Identify suppliers that can meet the company's needs for materials, manufacturing or parts.
  • Set terms and conditions for supplier relationships, and negotiate contracts for cost, quality, and sustainability. Onboarding supplier/vendors.
  • Ensures compliance with the company’s internal controls within the procure-to-pay business cycle.
  • Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

Your profile

  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the injection molding and recycling industries
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Familiarity with ERPs, SAP preferred
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with inventory management models (Min/Max)
  • Negotiation skills
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Knowledge of SRM (Vendor scorecard, Code of Conduct, Supplier Auditing, Quality Systems)
